River cruise brings you closer to your dream destination

When I first went on a river cruise I didn’t set any expectations. I wanted to get a raw experience and then share it with my clients who were hesitant on going on the river cruise or adding it to their trip programs.

I sailed on AmaWaterways along the Danube. After the first day of sailing I fell in love with river cruising. I won’t lie, I didn’t expect this from myself remembering that it took me a few different ocean cruises before I got to the point that ocean cruises can be not only big, bold, but also it can be fun, relaxing and a perfect vacation.

In this post I will share more details about river cruising and why it can be one of the best ways to explore the destination.

One of the most amazing benefits of river cruising, that you are right in the heart of each town you will be visiting on the cruise. This is what I love the most about river cruising. The ship usually docks nicely in a close proximity to the town. Even if you don’t want to go on one of the shore excursions offered or included by the cruise line, you can easily get to the town on your own. Of course it depends on the destination. I won’t recommend doing so if you are sailing along the Nile, or Zambezie River. Also, it can be challenging if you are traveling in Southeast Asia. But, if you are going to Europe, that will be a blast.

River cruising has a slower, more relaxed path as you will be sailing along the river and going through locks, which is an amazing experience on its own. My favorite part while sailing it is to go on the upper deck, take some warm tea or wine if you prefer, comfortably sit in the lounge chair and look around beautiful vistas: hilly vineyards, smaller villages, mountains, winding roads and castles.

This is part of the experience to allow yourself to slow down a bit and catch a true sense of being in the moment. River cruising allows you to do so in a very gentle way.

Depending on the cruise line you have different inclusions from not only your accommodation, meals, onboard entertainment, but also with tips, shore excursions, transfers included in the sailing. This makes it even easier for you and elevates your full experience.

I and my clients love that river cruises go by the standards of having anywhere between 100 - 250 people on board. This brings a sense of traveling with friends or family as by the end of your 7-14 days cruise you will know a lot of people onboard and become friends with them. You will be sharing many activities together, such as morning yoga or pilates, naturalist and destination talks, evening special in destination entertainments, a drink by the bar and more.

River cruise can be a separate trip on its own or can be nicely added as an additional part to your vacation. I am here to help you find the right solution for your river cruise vacation and help you with trip planning to ensure that it’s seamless, stress free and matches your personality and travel style.

Like with ocean cruises, there are a lot of different options and hundreds of itineraries, which can be overwhelming. This is your choice if you want to put all this pressure on yourself or simply delegate it to me. So the hardest job that you will need to do is just pack for the trip and collect the most amazing memories.
